Last year, we encouraged you to pumpkin spice up your fall workouts with the help of a gourd. Now, we’re taking a turn for the scary by rebranding some of our favorite Pilates moves for Halloween.
Are you ready to get scary and stronger together?
Halloween Pilates Moves Guaranteed to Give You the Chills
*Black Cat Stretch *
You know the cat-cow stretch. We’re reimagining this one as the Black Cat Stretch. Engage your core, lubricate your joints, and enjoy a stretch that just feels good.
*Floating Ghost *
We’re starting with a move that gives some people nightmares: the 4-point knee hover. While it’s unlikely you’ll be mistaken for Casper doing this move, it can help stubborn belly fat disappear!

Haunted Bridge
Every town has a ghost story about a haunted bridge. In Halloween Pilates, our haunted bridge is actually just a glute bridge. Instead of meeting a ghost, though, you’ll strengthen your booty and improve your spinal mobility.
*Zombie Walk *
You know them as scissor kicks, but in Halloween Pilates, we’ll hold our arms straight in front of us and slowly perform scissor kicks in an up-and-down motion for a horizontal zombie walk.
Note: If you’re not able to keep your back pressed to the mat with your arms straight ahead, keep your arms by your side or under your glutes.
Make a Spider Web
Spinning silk and weaving a web is quite beautiful… as long as you’re not arachnophobic. In this move, we become the spider as we do our leg circles. You’ll work your core, hip stabilizers, and leg muscles as you gracefully draw circles with your toe, while protecting your lower back.

*Mummy Rising *
The roll-up looks so simple, even the (un)dead could do it. But this move focuses on spinal articulation while demanding your core work overtime. Move like a mummy, as you roll up one vertebra at a time. In this move, slow control is everything!
*Monster squats *
Monsters are a must-have on Halloween. And a Pilates class isn’t complete without squats. Work your quads, hamstrings, glutes, and deep core muscles while maintaining an elongated spine. You’ll note Quasimodo has no place on this list!
*Funky Monster *
Your quads will be burning after a series of monster squats, but we’re not done yet! Even monsters like to groove. The funky monster is everyone’s favorite move: squats with pulses. This move works your glutes, quads, and inner thighs for a real monster muscle party!
Undead Bug
Who named this move the dead bug, anyways? It seems a bit undead to us! Make like an undead bug as you lie on your back and work on your abs and coordination all at the same time.
*The Hundred *
Nope. We didn’t forget to offer a cutesy, spooky name. We all know The Hundred is the scariest of them all... no rebrand needed. Just get those arms pumping!
No matter what you call them, these Pilates moves are a treat (no trick!) for your core. Dana’s teaching two Pilates classes on Halloween, and you’re invited! Wear your Pilates-friendly costume if you’ve got one!
