One of the biggest reasons people stop exercising isn't motivation. It's logistics. A studio that's hard to get to, or that doesn't fit around your day, quietly falls off the calendar. That's why location matters so much, and why Union Square is such an easy place to make Pilates a habit.
Easy to Reach From Almost Anywhere
14th Street–Union Square is one of the city's biggest transit hubs, served by the 4, 5 and 6, the N, Q, R and W, and the L. Whether you're coming from Brooklyn, Queens, uptown or across town, you can usually get here without a transfer. Our studio is at 41 Union Square West, right on the square.
Before Work: Start Strong
Early sessions are popular for a reason. You're done before the day can derail you, and many people find they sit and move better for hours afterward. Lay out your clothes the night before, and keep a fitted top and leggings in your work bag.
Lunchtime: A Reset in the Middle of the Day
If you work in Union Square, Flatiron, Chelsea or the Village, a midday session can be a great reset. A 55-minute session leaves enough time to get back to your desk without rushing.
After Work: Unwind With Intention
Evening sessions are a good way to shake off a day of sitting. Pilates' focus on breathing and control can help you leave the workday at the door.
Make a Morning of It
The Union Square Greenmarket runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. A weekend session followed by a walk through the market for seasonal produce is about as good as a downtown morning gets.
Tips for Making It Stick
- Book recurring times. The same slot each week turns a decision into a routine.
- Pair it with something you already do. Commute, lunch or a weekly errand.
- Train with someone. A duet session adds accountability.
- Plan for busy weeks. One shorter session beats skipping entirely.
