Have you ever wondered why flight attendants advise you to put on your own mask before helping others? If you pass out, you’re no help to anyone. When you take care of yourself, you’re better equipped to help those around you.
Pilates isn’t quite as essential as oxygen, but we’d argue that it’s a close second!
With Spring break and summer vacation just around the corner, you need a plan. We hear from busy parents that a single break in routine is all it takes to get out of the habit. So today, we’re talking about how you can prioritize your health— even when school’s out.
Ditch the Car
Whether you’re on vacation or enjoying time at home, ditch the car and explore on foot or by bike. Challenge yourself and your family to complete as many activities as possible without driving. Run errands close to home, go on a nature scavenger hunt, or see how many different dogs you can meet.
Bonus: Think of all the gas money you’ll save!
Try a Throwback Activity With Your Kids

When the days are long and daily screen time is exhausted, get active together! Consider introducing them to some throwback fitness activities. Challenge your kids (and yourself!) to a jump rope contest. See who can “skip it” the most times without tripping. YouTube an old Jazzercise, Jane Fonda, or Tae Bo class (and be sure to dress the part)!
Break Bad Habits
Breaks from your normal routine put you at risk of stopping good habits. The flip side? It’s a great opportunity to break some bad habits.
Is your phone attached to your body? Is your snack of choice high in sugar? Are you dehydrated 97% of the time?
Use the vacation time to go get a library card, try a new protein ball recipe, or make some spa water with cucumber, lemon, or cinnamon to increase your water intake.
Rest
Doom scrolling is not rest. I’m going to say it again: Doom scrolling is not rest.
How often do you lose half an hour scrolling TikTok? If you’re like most, the answer is probably more times than you’d like to admit.
Researchers at NASA found that pilots who took 10-30-minute naps were 50% more alert and 30%+ better at their jobs than their non-napping counterparts.
When you need a break, set an alarm and close your eyes. Give your mind time to rest (without the addictive apps).
Keep Up the Momentum with Zoom Private Sessions

Don’t let a week away from the gym halt your progress. Did you know you can do Enhancewell’s private sessions in person or on Zoom? All you need is 55 minutes and enough space to plank!
Before you take responsibility for your children’s wellness, you need to prioritize your own. Sign up for a Zoom private today and enjoy time for yourself (that’s not just eating Girl Scout cookies while hiding in the pantry).
