There’s no denying that something special is happening at Amazon. What began as an online marketplace for books in Jeff Bezos’ garage is now the largest online retailer in the world. So, what’s the secret sauce?
It’s not working harder, learning the fastest, or being more educated.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky, “I think an embarrassing amount of how well you do, particularly in your 20s, has to do with attitude.”
How can your attitude affect your success? Today, we’ll explain how having a positive attitude is connected to success and how you can boost your mindset to impact your business trajectory.
The positive impacts of positivity

Having a positive attitude isn’t just woo-woo thinking.
Johns Hopkins Medicine shared that “People with a family history of heart disease who also had a positive outlook were one-third less likely to have a heart attack or other cardiovascular event within five to 25 years than those with a more negative outlook.” Having a positive outlook also lowers your risk of depression and improves your resistance to the common cold. When your body is healthy, you are better equipped to succeed at work.
And it’s not just your health that benefits. Your work does, too.
Positivity is proven to boost productivity by stimulating your brain to function at its best and inspire others to do the same.
Those with increased positivity also show higher levels of confidence and ability to problem solve, so problems don’t seem quite as daunting.
How to boost your positivity
Ok, so we’ve established that positivity is good for your body and mind. How can you shake your Negative Nancy ways to become a Positive Paula?
Fake it until you make it – start with a smile

A study by the University of Kansas found that smiling during a stressful situation (even fake-smiling) led to lower heart rates and blood pressure than those who did not smile through the same stressful situation.
To improve your mindset, start with your face.
Look on the bright side
If you look for it, you can find something negative in every situation. A sunny day leads to sunburns. Ice cream gives you brain freeze.
Instead of searching for the negative, focus on the positive.
Albus Dumbledore (from the Harry Potter series) said, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
Surround yourself with the people you want to be
Who’s in your social circle? Is it full of complainers or people who always look on the bright side? Seek out people you want to emulate, and you’ll naturally become more positive.
